Measure ingredients below into into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake until well mixed. Pour into a heavy stainless steel skillet over high heat and stir continually with a twirl whisk. When mixture begins to bubble, turn to simmer and cook one more minute, stirring continuously. Serve hot.

 

BASIC WHITE SAUCE:

  • 2 cups non-dairy milk (plain unsweetened)
  • 3 tablespoons flour (white, barley or oat)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (less if adding salty ingredients for gravy)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon buttery flavoring, optional (Spicery Shoppe™ from Country Life Natural Foods)
